The big bad parking lot

Our parking lot is literally a lake. The drainage isn't working. They came the other day to "fix" it, now it is a lake with HUGE Ice chunks floating around. Here is a picture of it in the morning, when it is almost all frozen, by the end of the day it will look like the Arctic Ocean!

This morning at like 5 am a car was stuck and reving it's engine trying to get out of the lake. By the time eric decided to go help him, found his boots and got dressed to go help him, he had escaped the wrath of the parking lot.... (eric said it lasted atleast 30mins)

I hope the parking lot finds favour on me this morning...

The newest edition to our house #2

We FINALLY got our closet doors for our extra room.

In the process however, We found out that one of our walls is warped.... Oh well.

I made a comment to the workman that I was married, and he was shocked. He said "You don't look old enough to be married! You look like you are a school girl!" I just smiled... I get that SO often....

Narcissism

I was listening to a talk radio program yesterday and the guest did a study about narcissism in today's youth. She surveyed college students all over the country with the Narcissism Personality Disorder Test. She found that, compared with the 80's and 90's generations, we have increased occurences of NPD.

Description

People who have a narcissistic personality style rather than narcissistic personality disorder are generally psychologically healthy, but may at times be arrogant, proud, shrewd, confident, self-centered and determined to be at the top. They do not, however, have an unrealistic image of their skills and worth and are not dependent on praise to sustain a healthy self-esteem.

-Overreacts to criticism, becoming angry or humiliated
-Uses others to reach goals
-Exaggerates own importance
-Entertains unrealistic fantasies about achievements, power, beauty, intelligence or romance
-Has unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment
-Seeks constant attention and positive reinforcement from others
-Is easily jealous
-Has a sense of entitlement
-Is interpersonally exploitative
-Lacks empathy
-Displays arrogant, haughty behaviours

The lady also said that one of the characteristics is an initial response of violence... could this explain some of the craziness of our youth today?

Training... or not.

I was supposed to be attending training for work yesterday and today BUT:

I got their and was directed by the receptionist to the classroom.
I waited and waited
waited some more... finally looked at my clock and decided something was not right
I figured I had the wrong classroom, although, I had followed the directions correctly.
I was on my way back to the receptionist and saw a group of ppl...
Maybe this was my class...
I stood by the open door for mere seconds when someone abruptly and rudely said
Can I help you?
uhh um... I'm looking for the Aboriginal Training....?

Oh that is cancelled today, it's rescheduled for next week.


First of all, thanks for calling and letting me know. NOBODY else showed up so I'm assuming that I was the only one that didn't get notice.

Secondly, Do they assume that it's that simple to reschedule for next week...

To end on a positive note, I did get 2 extra days off this week, (although next week I will be working extra...)

Vacation!!!

My Dad and Marcia are treating our entire family to tropical vacation!! WAHOO!! We are allowed to choose where we want to go (within reason of course)... any suggestions?

Bridesmaid!

I'm going to be a bridesmaid! wahooo! In my sister-in-laws wedding! I can't wait, it's May 2008.

( I really did not intend for that last part to rythme, it just happened naturally)
